Yoga & movement

You do not need to be flexible before you begin.

Start with the body you have today. Fitur uses beginner-aware movement, clear progressions and practical modifications to build mobility, strength, balance and confidence.

The pose is not the goal. Useful movement is.

Yoga does not need to look advanced to be valuable. A well-scaled practice focuses on breathing, alignment cues, comfortable range, control and how your body responds.

  1. 01
Use support without shameBlocks, walls, chairs and shorter ranges can make practice more accessible and controlled.
  2. 02
Build strength as well as flexibilitySteady holds and simple transitions can develop support around joints and daily movement.
  3. 03
Progress graduallyIncrease range, duration or complexity one variable at a time when the current level feels steady.
Four building blocks

A practice that serves the rest of your day.

The balance between these elements changes with your starting point, comfort and goal.

01

Breath

Use steady breathing to notice effort, pace movement and reduce unnecessary tension.

02

Mobility

Explore usable range with control instead of forcing the body into an end position.

03

Strength

Develop the support needed to hold positions, transition and move with confidence.

04

Recovery

Include slower work and rest so the session supports consistency rather than exhaustion.

Common beginner concerns

You are allowed to start imperfectly.

A suitable first step removes performance pressure and makes safety easier to understand.

01

“I am too stiff.”

Stiffness is a reason to begin gently, not a test you must pass before joining. Range can be reduced and supported.

02

“I cannot balance.”

Balance can be practised near a wall or chair. Stability and confidence often improve through simple repetition.

03

“I have not exercised in years.”

The first sessions can prioritise breathing, mobility, floor-to-standing confidence and short periods of movement.

04

“I am not young enough.”

Age changes what progression may look like, but it does not automatically exclude useful movement. Health context matters.

05

“I will look awkward.”

The practice is not a performance. Attention stays on comfort, control, breathing and your own starting point.

A simple practice structure

Arrive. Prepare. Move. Recover.

A session does not need dozens of poses. A clear structure helps the body warm up, practise a small number of movements and settle afterwards.

  1. 01
ArriveNotice breathing, energy, pain and the condition you are bringing into the session.
  2. 02
PrepareUse gentle joint movement and easier versions of the patterns ahead.
  3. 03
PractiseWork through an appropriate mix of mobility, strength and balance.
  4. 04
RecoverReduce intensity, breathe comfortably and notice how the body responds.
Safety first

When to modify, pause or seek advice.

Yoga is generally considered safe when practised appropriately, but injuries can occur. Share relevant health information before beginning.

Modify the position

Reduce range, use support or choose another version when you cannot breathe steadily or maintain control.

Stop the movement

Do not push through sharp pain, dizziness, chest pain, sudden weakness, numbness or unusual shortness of breath.

Ask a qualified professional

Get appropriate advice for pregnancy, recent surgery, significant injury, osteoporosis or an unstable health condition.
